Meet Your Dragon Boat Clinic Coaches
Shane Nelson
Meet Shane Nelson. Shane has paddled dragon boats competitively for 20 years, winning a bronze at the World Club Crews in Rome Italy in 2002. He is a qualified Dragon Boat Canada Level 1 Coach, and Level 1 Race Official. Shane worked with Great White North (GWN) Dragon Boat Racing company for 12 years, where he managed event logistics, dock and race course installation, coaching and steering multiple regattas each season. Shane is enjoying his fifth season coaching the most amazing, gifted, spirited, intelligent, and beautiful Breast Cancer Survivor Crew in the whole-wide world! (www.BreastStrokes.org) “I really enjoy working with people to gain the most out of their paddling experience from competitive to community fun!”
Terry Scott (everybody’s favorite Dragon on the Lake Steersman!)
Ten years ago I made my first trip to Lake Orion. I loved it then, and am still loving it today. My paddling career started in Flat Water Canoeing, where I won many medals (too many to count) at the Canadian Championship over a fifteen-year period. Then I went over to Dragon boating where the medals kept coming, even to this date. In Dragon boating, I have paddled, steered and coached. If you come to the Clinic on July 27, I can promise you a few things. You will work hard, and I mean HARD! We will improve your paddling technique and you will become a better Dragon boater. Shane Nelson is the other coach and believe me, he is a great person and a fantastic coach. He has many accomplishments in this sport. If you think I am a good coach when I have your team for an hour the day before the regatta, Shane and myself will take your team to the next Level if you sign up for the clinic. See you on July 27!
Yours in Paddling,
Terry
